Space Is What We Make It

Together or apart, it’s what we do that matters.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been with us for almost two years now. In March 2020, our lives took an immediate turn because of a virus outbreak that wreaked havoc on the world. Public spaces were closed, lockdowns were imposed, and social distancing initiatives were put into place.

As a result, the things we usually do became a far-fetched luxury. No warnings, reminders, or caution, our lives turned upside down in a blink of an eye. We’re stuck inside our homes. And we’re all shocked by all the sudden changes and restrictions.

Because the virus is transmitted through the air, governments required citizens to stay home. Subsequently, we were deprived of social and human interaction.

But thanks to technology, we have ways to appease our anxieties and feelings of loneliness. Though we can’t meet our friends and families face to face, technology helped us facilitate communications. Because of it, we have can cultivate our relationships, minus the physical aspect.

Personally, the app which had been most helpful to me during these times is Messenger. It allowed me to check on my friends and family to know how they’re doing. It gave me assurance they’re okay amidst the distance that separates us. I also feel less alone because…
